How Whiplash is Graded

Whiplash is graded per the following three points:

  • The extent of your whiplash;
  • Your recovery period from your whiplash;
  • How your injuries have and will affect your life (prognosis).

You will need to attend a medical examination as part of the claims process to establish these things. It is also highly likely that if you have not already done so, you will need to have an x-ray scan and an MRI scan, to assess your injury properly. If your only symptoms are pain and discomfort, then it is likely that you have grade 1 whiplash. Grade 2 whiplash may have some minor musculoskeletal signs of injury, while grade 3 and 4 whiplash could have neurological signs of injury too. The medical report generated through your medical examination will be used by your solicitor to determine a fair and proportionate settlement figure, which will then be presented to other side along with all evidence.

To get a better payout average for whiplash claim, or for legal advice, you can call an accident helpline. Accident helplines are the best way to get legal advice quickly and from the comfort of your own home. However, you should make sure that you only call a helpline that is operated by a law firm, to ensure you get the very best legal advice.
